The Lucid Moon
To unite with the soul inside you (and resultantly with the energy-expression of life itself), one must learn the trick of “being here now.” Letting go, releasing, moving forward, coming into the present… there are many phrases people use to describe this trick, so please feel free to apply your own.
It seems to me that there are some people who are especially blessed with a talent for this trick. And then, many of us develop a sort of toolkit of different ways to get here. Here meaning a state of being that is purely interested in now, rather than a state of being mentally or emotionally encased in the past or the future.
There’s a lot of good to be found in such a state, which is why humankind has put so much effort into achieving it. Just think of the cumulative hours people have spent meditating, for instance. In my way of thinking, there ARE things our species does that have a positive effect on all living things.
An individual sitting in Samadhi; a circle of people singing thanks; a mother fully engaged in play with her child… these are examples of what I think of as activities (or non-activities!) that have something to give to all of life. What they have in common is that state of being present. May you spend many hours in your version of that state!
You may have noted my use of the word “trick,” an interesting word. In this usage, I am not feeling it in its deceptive sense. In my dictionary, I am enjoying definition 5a. “A special skill; a knack: Is there a trick for getting this window to stay up?”
Although so far, I’ve been referring to conscious efforts to achieve this state, it is often the case that the circumstances of life create the first experience of it. From my divorce, I can clearly remember a beautiful state of clarity, a feeling of being in a new place, that came after crying far more tears than I thought possible. And I know that many have experienced the state of being present in the aftermath of powerful life-events. I like to use the word “lucidity” for this state.
In my last article, I wrote about this sort of thing as having something to do with realizing that I (you, we) am (are) participating in The Story, rather than being so concerned with My Story. This is, I believe, the purpose or desired end result of the ongoing Pluto/Uranus square. To get each of us to participate in humanity, and by extension, the community of living beings collectively known as The Earth.
Another way to think of this has to do with the difference between being caught up in what you can or can’t bear, and rather becoming aware of what you bear inside you. In readings, what I do is help people get awareness of and access to what they bear within. To get that window open and to keep it open.
What could be achieved when a high enough portion of humanity becomes open in that way is really something to think about.
Now, it is the case that there are NO moments when the state of being present is unavailable – in any second, in any circumstance, a person can choose to be freely and fully in the moment they are in, unencumbered by previous mental/emotional states or future concerns. However, for sure, there are times when great opportunities are presented – as part of, you know, The Story.
And this is the case during the period of the New Moon of July 8th, 2013.
Each and every New Moon is given us as an opening towards authentic presence. Those of us who work with the Moon are setting intention, participating in ceremony, praying into the awareness of what we bear inside whenever She is New. Those of us who study the Moon can learn to perceive the flavor of each Moon and to communicate what sort of window it is that we are being offered – what sorts of perception are available, you might say.
And this Moon… is coincident with Saturn’s direct station for the year, and coincident with a gorgeous water sign grand trine between Neptune in Pisces, Saturn in Scorpio, and Jupiter in Cancer.
Saturn stations direct once a year and every time, I experience it as a load coming off of my shoulders. A keyword for this event could be “unburdening.”
And I would say that this Jupiter/Saturn/Neptune formation is about as powerful as I can imagine for helping people not only recognize what they bear inside, but also to show each of us how beautiful it is to give of what we bear.
Let’s think of this as the Lucid Moon.
And this is all in contrast to a rather south-nodey, re-running-the-loops/what’s-in-it-for-me kind of energy that has dominated since about February. This Moon shows up as a very available opening towards a collective experience of presence, of recognition of what we each bear within us, and perhaps more importantly, a nudge in the direction of offering what we have to give for the good of all who live, have lived or will live.
We can, if we choose, give so much love to the Earth that She blossoms more beautifully than She ever has.
So I share with you, from John Sandbach’s Pleiadian series of zodiac degree symbols, the image for the 17th degree of the sign of Cancer, where this New Moon occurs at 3:14 AM on July 8th. The image is, “A plant thought to be extinct comes to life from a seed that chanced to fall by the wayside.”
May each of you marvel at such a story. May you give of your soul to such a story.
With the Moon…
“If you meet your destiny half way, it will meet you all the way.”
